The Golden Globes- A Lady-like Revival

On Sunday, the Golden Globes were held in Los Angeles, and with any awards ceremony the focus is as much on the fashion as on the winners' .
There were many stand out dresses on the night, including, Jessica Alba in a coral gown by Oscar de la Renta, Jennifer Lopez wearing a form fitting Intricate lace dress by Zuhair Murad and Marion Cotillard in Dior.

Though many beautiful dresses graced the red carpet, for me, the one actress who stood out was Sienna Miller. Although her Erdem dress has received criticism for being too fashion forward and edgy, I found the dress and the overall look a refreshing and bold choice.
Channeling the character, Tippi Hedren, whom she portrays in 'The Girl,' Sienna mixed early 1960's fashion (think the simplicity of Jacqueline Kennedy wardrobe during her Camelot years) with the contemporary and modern, by keeping her accessories and make up to a minimum.

This was not the first time that Sienna had chosen a 1960's inspired design. For the Bafta Tea Party she wore a Valentino baby pink dress, decorated with delicate floral embroidery, which also showed a strong resemblance to this era.

This Lady- like, elegant and feminine look, worn by actresses such as Sienna Miller and Jessica Alba, was a prominent trend for the 2013 Spring/Summer collections. Taking Inspiration from 1960s Icons such as Catherine Deneuve, Doris Day and Brigitte Bardot, the look is sweet, pretty and charming.

My Style Icon of 2012 is...Felicity Jones

2012 was a year of Momentous Fashion Moments, from Gwyneth Paltrow's Tom Ford gown at the Oscars' to the amazing Olympic catwalk which saw fashion Icons like Kate Moss and Georgia May Jagger strutting down the runway.

However, for me, Felicity Jones stood out from the crowd with her eclectic sense of style and fashion choices. Mixing the old (Jean Shrimpton/ Julie Christie 1960s Style) with the contemporary (Dolce and Gabbana) 2012 has been the breakout year for this star.

The Look

When it comes to her style, Felicity Jones mixes colours, shapes, prints and textures to create her individual look. Heavily influenced by the 1960s and the fashion icons of that era, including Jean Shrimpton, Natalie Wood and Anna Karina, she adds a modern twist to her outfits with a colour-clashing accessory or a statement shoe.

This Week's Style Icon Is......Jane Birkin

You know you're a Style Icon when a bag is named after you. Jane Birkin is an English model and actress. In 1984, Herme's chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas created a black leather bag for her and called it The Birkin Bag, cementing Jane Birkin's reputation as a leading fashion figure.
