IT GIRLS Part 1

Jean Shrimpton

Jean Shrimpton is my all time favourite Supermodel. She personified everything connected to 1960s London and her photographs with David Bailey are some of the most iconic images of that time. Her Look was effortless, with clean lines and simple silhouettes, modern and elegant. She embraced the trends of the time, like the Mini skirt and the Shift dress, but still maintained a timeless quality to her style.

"Fashion Is a Lifestyle" Part 2

There have been many youth fashion movements throughout the 20th Century which have had both an aesthetic and social impact on society.

The Punk Movement

The Punk movement first began in the mid 1970s in America, United Kingdom and Australia and had many forms of expression including fashion, art and music.
Punks set out to outrage society with the use of clothing, tattoos, piercings and outrageous hairstyles. Early Punk style included ripped clothing held together with safety pins, drainpipe jeans, Tartan/Plaid Kilts or skirts, leather Jackets, metal studs and spikes and Converse trainers.

Britpop

Britpop emerged from the British Independent music scene in the early 1990s and was heavily influenced by movements such as the British Invasion, Glam Rock and Punk. Britpop groups formed a larger cultural British movement called Rule Britannia. Key people of this movement included Oasis, Blur, Kate Moss, Sadie Frost and Jude Law.

These gorgeous Suede ruffled Valentino ankle boots are definitely on my wish list for this season. Pair them with a simple black shift dress or dress them down with skinny jeans, they will make any outfit stylish and elegant. However, at £585.00 they are out of my  price range, but luckily the British High Street have some equally chic and affordable versions.
